Chapter 3 – The Brother Who Refused to Believe

Michael's younger brother, Daniel, arrived at the hospital furious.

"What is wrong with you?"

He shoved Michael backward.

"You had my wife arrested!"

Michael quietly handed him the phone.

"Watch."

Daniel crossed his arms.

"This better be—"

The hidden camera video began.

Kimberly forcing open their father's mouth.

The wheelchair tipping over.

Their father crashing onto the floor.

"I'm sick of cleaning up after you."

Daniel's breathing stopped.

Then came the doctor's voice from the ambulance recording.

"That medication could have killed him."

Daniel slowly lowered the phone.

"No..."

His voice cracked.

"No... Kimberly wouldn't..."

Michael handed him another document.

The toxicology report.

Then another.

A bank statement.

Over the previous six months, Kimberly had quietly transferred nearly $380,000 from their father's retirement accounts into shell companies she secretly controlled.

There were forged signatures.

Insurance policy changes.

Even paperwork making herself executor of the estate.

Everything had been prepared.

Daniel collapsed into a chair.

He covered his face with both hands.

"I married a monster..."

Police detectives soon uncovered even more.

Kimberly had searched online dozens of times:

"Best medication to make elderly people sleep forever."

"How long before oxygen deprivation causes cardiac arrest?"

The investigation was no longer about elder abuse.

It had become an attempted murder case.
