CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET BEHIND THE FALL

Margaret opened her eyes.

A man in a black coat stood behind Daniel, holding his wrist.

The knife fell to the ground.

“Enough, Daniel.”

Daniel’s face turned pale.

“Father?”

Everyone froze.

Richard Whitmore, Daniel’s father, had returned.

The man everyone thought was dead.

Emma wasn’t dead.

At the last second, she had landed on a lower balcony roof.

She was badly injured, but alive.

Doctors rushed her to the hospital.

The entire family was questioned.

And the biggest shock came when Richard revealed something.

“I never died.”

Daniel stared at him.

“What are you talking about?”

Richard looked at his own son with disappointment.

“I discovered what you and your mother were planning.”

Victoria became nervous.

“Richard, don’t listen to him. He’s confused.”

But Richard pulled out a small recorder.

On it was Victoria’s voice.

“You push her. Daniel will finish the job.”

The room became silent.

Emma covered her mouth.

Her own husband had planned her murder.

Daniel looked terrified.

“Dad… I can explain.”

Richard shook his head.

“No.”

“You cannot explain betrayal.”

But then Victoria smiled.

Everyone noticed.

She wasn’t afraid.

Because she knew something they didn’t.

“I guess it’s time they know the real truth about Emma.”

Emma looked confused.

“What truth?”

Victoria stepped closer.

“You are not my daughter-in-law.”

A chilling silence filled the room.

“You are the reason my first child disappeared thirty years ago.”

Margaret’s face changed.

Because she remembered something.

A baby.

A missing baby.

And an old secret hidden inside Whitmore Mansion.
