Chapter 1 — The Night the Mansion Broke

The sound of destruction echoed through the Harrington mansion.

Glass shattered.

Furniture crashed against the walls.

The once-perfect marble hallway looked like a battlefield.

Richard Harrington stood in the center of the chaos, gripping his black cane so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

Nobody dared speak.

Nobody dared move.

Because everyone in the mansion knew one thing

When Richard lost control, no one was safe.

His wife, Evelyn, lay on the cold marble floor near the staircase. Her expensive dress was torn, her breathing weak, but her eyes were fixed on one person.

Her daughter.

Lily.

The seven-year-old girl stood frozen behind two terrified maids.

“Take her away,” Richard ordered.

The maids hesitated.

They had worked in the mansion for years.

They had seen Richard destroy businesses, ruin people, and silence anyone who challenged him.

But they had never seen him like this.

“Sir
the child is frightened,” one maid whispered.

Richard turned slowly.

“Did I ask for your opinion?”

The entire hallway went silent.

Then Lily pulled away.

The maids tried to hold her.

“Miss Lily, please
”

But the little girl looked at her mother lying on the floor.

And something inside her changed.

She was afraid.

But she was more afraid of losing her mother.

She broke free.

And she ran.

“Mommy!”

Richard lifted his cane.

But before he could take another step

Lily stood between them.

A seven-year-old child.

A tiny body.

A trembling voice.

But the courage of someone much older.

“Don’t hurt her.”

Richard stared at his daughter.

For the first time that night

He didn’t see fear in someone’s eyes.

He saw defiance.

Then the elevator at the end of the hallway opened.

And everything changed.
