Chapter 1: The Recording Behind the Wall

Graham Vale stood frozen in the darkness of his mansion.

The sound of the swimming pool water dripping from Celeste’s gown was the only thing breaking the silence.

A few seconds earlier, he had believed he was looking at the woman who had hurt his daughter.

Now, he was holding the same woman he had tried to punish.

And Ava’s words kept repeating inside his head.

“Daddy
the key is in her dress.”

Graham carefully removed the tiny silver key hidden inside the lining of Celeste’s gown.

Nobody spoke.

Not Celeste.

Not Ava.

Not even Graham.

The man who controlled billion-dollar companies with a single phone call suddenly looked like someone who had lost control of his entire world.

He walked back to the shattered antique mirror.

The mirror had belonged to his late wife, Eleanor.

A piece of furniture he had kept for eighteen years because he could never bring himself to throw it away.

But now he realized something.

Eleanor had not kept the mirror.

She had hidden something inside it.

The key turned.

A small click echoed through the hallway.

A secret compartment opened behind the broken glass.

Inside was an old voice recorder, several documents, and a handwritten letter.

Graham’s hands trembled as he picked up the recorder.

A familiar voice filled the room.

A voice he thought he would never hear again.

“Graham
if you are listening to this, it means they finally pushed you far enough.”

His heart stopped.

It was Eleanor.

His dead wife.

“The person standing closest to you is the person you should fear the most.”

Everyone slowly turned toward Celeste.

Her face lost all color.

May you like

Because she knew.

The truth was finally coming out.
