Chapter 12: A Mother’s Pain

Chapter 12: A Mother’s Pain

That night, Lucas sat alone in the garden.

Rosa found him there.

“You miss your mother, don’t you?”

The boy nodded.

“I know she did bad things.”

“But she is still my mom.”

Rosa sat beside him.

“That is okay.”

“You can love someone and still know they made mistakes.”

Lucas wiped his tears.

“I wish she was different.”

Rosa looked toward the mansion.

“So do I.”

For the first time, Rosa saw Lucas not as Veronica’s son

But as a child who had also been hurt.

A child forced to choose between loyalty and truth.

Meanwhile, Veronica watched them from the window.

And something inside her finally broke.

She realized the people she hurt

Were the same people who still cared about her.
