The emergency board meeting lasted less than twenty minutes.
For years, Daniel had controlled every vote.
Today...
His chair sat empty.
The general counsel stood.
"We are removing Dr. Daniel Voss as director effective immediately."
No one objected.
Then another director spoke.
"We also approve full cooperation with federal authorities."
Outside, reporters crowded the entrance.
Hospital employees watched live on their phones.
Some cried.
Some applauded.
Some quietly resigned.
The empire Daniel believed untouchable was collapsing one signature at a time.
But inside the detention center...
Daniel smiled for the first time since his arrest.
His attorney leaned closer.
"They still haven't found your offshore account."
Daniel whispered,
"They never will."
He was wrong.
