Chapter 11 - MARCO’S SECRET

Alessandro confronted Marco that night.

“Tell me.”

Marco didn’t lie.

“My father.”

Alessandro froze.

Marco’s father, Enzo Rizzi, had been Vittorio’s security chief.

“He killed Mateo?”

“He arranged it.”

“Why?”

“Carlo threatened my mother.”

Alessandro laughed bitterly.

“Everyone had a reason.”

Marco lowered his head.

“I found out when I was nineteen.”

“And you said nothing.”

“I spent my life trying to repay something I couldn’t undo.”

Alessandro looked at him.

“You protected me because your father murdered Sophia’s father?”

“Yes.”

Sophia overheard everything.

Her face collapsed.

“You knew?”

Marco turned.

“I’m sorry.”

Sophia slapped him.

Marco didn’t move.

“My father died alone.”

“I know.”

“He wrote letters begging someone to believe him.”

“I know.”

“And you stood in my employer’s house every day knowing why?”

“Yes.”

Sophia’s voice broke.

“Get away from me.”

Marco left.

Alessandro didn’t stop him.

That night, Marco resigned.

By morning, he had disappeared.

But he left Alessandro one file.

Inside was evidence against his own father.
