Chapter 20 – The House Without Secrets

Six months later, Ashcroft Manor looked completely different.

Every hidden room had been opened.

Every secret passage had been documented.

The underground archive had become evidence in the criminal investigation.

Victor Kane was convicted using the records recovered before the fire.

Margaret Holloway's name was publicly cleared.

A memorial honoring her courage stood in the restored west wing.

Grace accepted a new position as director of the Ashcroft Children's Foundation.

Instead of hiding frightened children...

The estate now provided emergency shelter for families in crisis.

Lucas moved into Charles' home after the courts finalized his guardianship.

One afternoon, Grace found him standing beside the old ballroom wall.

He quietly placed his hand against the stone.

"It doesn't scare me anymore," he said.

Grace smiled.

"It shouldn't."

"The wall can't keep secrets anymore."

Workers removed the last section of concealed masonry that afternoon.

Sunlight poured into the space where darkness had ruled for decades.

Charles stood silently beside Grace.

"My father wanted this house to protect people."

"It finally does."

Grace looked across the renovated hall.

Children laughed in the gardens outside.

Music drifted through open windows.

For the first time in decades, the mansion sounded alive.

Not because its secrets had been buried.

May you like

But because they had finally been told.

THE END
