CHAPTER 2 — The Power They Tried To Hide
Emily followed the mysterious man after school.
She needed answers.
She needed to know why this was happening to her.
The man introduced himself as Adrian Vale.
He wasn't a stranger.
He knew everything about her.
"Your real name isn't Emily Carter," he said.
She stared at him.
"What are you talking about?"
Adrian placed an old photograph on the table.
A picture of a young woman holding a baby.
The baby's eyes were glowing red.
Emily slowly picked up the photo.
"That's impossible..."
Adrian looked at her seriously.
"Your mother belonged to a rare group of people. People born with abilities."
Emily laughed nervously.
"You expect me to believe I'm some kind of superhero?"
"No," Adrian replied.
"I expect you to understand that someone has been hunting people like you for years."
Emily became silent.
Then she remembered the man in the hallway.
"Who are they?"
Adrian's expression changed.
"The people who caused your mother to disappear."
Emily's hands tightened.
"My mother isn't dead?"
Adrian didn't answer.
And that silence told her everything.
Meanwhile...
Victoria was sitting alone in her expensive bedroom.
She kept replaying the moment Emily's eyes changed.
The invisible force.
The fear.
She thought Emily would always be weak.
But she was wrong.
Then her phone rang.
A hidden number.
She answered.
A cold voice spoke.
"You found her."
Victoria froze.
"Who is this?"
"The girl with the red eyes."
Victoria swallowed.
"Yes..."
The voice continued:
"Bring her to us."
Victoria looked at the photo of Emily on her phone.
For the first time...
she wasn't the bully.
She was the one being controlled.
The next day, Emily discovered Victoria waiting outside the school.
But something was different.
Victoria looked exhausted.
Afraid.
"I need your help," Victoria whispered.
Emily couldn't believe it.
"Why would I help you?"
Victoria looked down.
"Because the people coming for you..."
"They're coming for me too."
Suddenly, every light in the school exploded.
A powerful force shook the building.
A group of people entered through the main doors.
Their leader stepped forward.
He looked directly at Emily.
"After fifteen years..."
"We finally found the last one."
Emily's eyes began glowing red.
