Chapter 3: The Fall Of Margaret

Three days later, the mansion was surrounded by police.

News reporters filled the driveway.

The evidence Daniel provided exposed everything.

The financial fraud.

The forged documents.

The poisoning.

And the attempted murder.

Margaret sat in the courtroom wearing the same perfect expression she had worn for years.

Calm.

Elegant.

Unbelievable.

Until Amelia walked in.

Alive.

Standing.

And holding the final piece of evidence.

A recording.

Margaret’s own voice.

The police had recovered it from the emergency phone backup.

In the recording, Margaret admitted everything.

“I only married him for his money. Once Amelia was gone, everything would belong to me.”

The courtroom went silent.

Jessica broke down first.

She realized her mother had never loved her either.

She was just another piece in Margaret’s game.

Margaret finally lost control.

“You think you won?”

She looked at Amelia with hatred.

“You have no idea how powerful I was.”

Amelia stepped forward.

“No, Margaret.”

Her voice was calm.

“You were only powerful because everyone believed your lies.”

The judge sentenced Margaret to prison for attempted murder, fraud, and conspiracy.

Jessica received a reduced sentence after cooperating and admitting her role.

Months later, Amelia returned to the rebuilt family home.

The place that almost became her grave.

But this time, it was different.

On the wall, she placed a picture of her father.

Next to it was the old emergency phone.

The phone that saved her life.

She listened to his voicemail one last time.

“I knew you were stronger than they thought.”

Amelia smiled through tears.

For years, she believed she had lost her father.

But she finally understood.

He had never abandoned her.

He had been protecting her until the very end.

And the people who tried to erase her story…

became the ones who revealed the truth.

The fire destroyed the house.
But it exposed the secrets hidden inside.
