Chapter 14 - THE LAST NIGHT ON MARAVILLA

The boat moved through the dark ocean.

Nobody spoke.

Giovanni stood at the front, staring at the island approaching in the distance.

Maravilla.

The place that had destroyed his family.

The place that held every answer.

Beside him stood Adrian, Clarissa, and Emilio.

They were no longer a family built on trust.

They were a family built on secrets.

But tonight…

They needed each other.

When they reached the island, everything looked abandoned.

Old buildings.

Broken roads.

Empty houses.

But Giovanni felt something.

A strange feeling.

Like he had been there yesterday.

They reached the old house.

The house that belonged to him.

The key Elena left behind fit perfectly.

The door opened.

Inside were hundreds of memories.

Photographs.

Documents.

Boxes.

Everything Elena had collected.

Clarissa walked toward a wall covered with pictures.

She stopped.

“Dad…”

Giovanni looked.

His heart broke.

The wall showed their entire family.

But hidden among the pictures was one person.

Victor Valenti.

Standing beside them.

Watching them.

Emilio picked up a document.

“Dad…”

He looked scared.

“What?”

“This proves Mom wasn’t poisoned.”

Everyone turned.

“What?”

Emilio handed him the paper.

A confession.

Written by Elena.

Giovanni read it.

My love,

If you found this, you finally know.

I was not killed because of Maravilla.

I was killed because I discovered who was using our family.

Giovanni looked up.

“Who?”

Then a voice answered.

“Me.”

Everyone turned.

A man stood in the doorway.

Older.

Scarred.

But alive.

Victor Valenti.

Clarissa froze.

“No…”

Victor smiled.

“My daughter.”

Giovanni stepped in front of her.

“You killed Elena.”

Victor laughed.

“No.”

He walked inside.

“Elena killed herself protecting you.”

Nobody moved.

“You don’t understand.”

Victor looked at Giovanni.

“She found out the truth about you.”

Giovanni stared.

“What truth?”

Victor smiled.

“You weren’t Elena’s victim.”

A pause.

“You were her partner.”

Giovanni felt the world collapse.

“That’s a lie.”

Victor shook his head.

“Ask yourself why your memories disappeared.”

Silence.

“Ask yourself why Elena never told you about Maravilla.”

Victor stepped closer.

“Because she knew the truth would destroy the man she loved.”

Giovanni looked at Adrian.

Then Clarissa.

Then the old photographs.

A terrible possibility appeared.

“What did I do?”

Victor smiled.

“Now you’re asking the right question.”

Suddenly, a gunshot exploded.

Everyone dropped.

When Giovanni looked up…

May you like

Victor was gone.

And Adrian was lying on the floor.
