Chapter 2: The House He Thought He Owned

Chapter 2: The House He Thought He Owned

Dean expected me to cry.

He expected me to beg.

He expected me to ask why.

Instead, I calmly picked up the divorce papers and asked one question.

“Dean… did you read the property records before doing this?”

His confident smile disappeared for half a second.

Only half.

Then he laughed.

“You’re upset. You’re not thinking clearly.”

That was exactly what he wanted.

A confused wife.

A desperate woman.

Someone who would sign anything just to survive.

But Dean forgot something important.

I was the woman who reviewed billion-dollar contracts for a living.

I noticed details.

I noticed signatures.

I noticed ownership structures.

And I remembered exactly how this house was purchased.

Not with his money.

Not with his father’s money.

With the inheritance my grandmother left me.

The same inheritance Dean convinced me to use to “build our future.”

May you like

The house was never his.

It was mine.
