Chapter 6 - THE WOMAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH

Elena couldn’t speak.
Neither could Daniel.
The recording replayed in their minds.
Victoria’s voice.
Cold.
Without emotion.
The voice of someone who believed she had already won.
“We have to take this to Ethan,” Elena said.
Daniel shook his head.
“Not yet.”
“Why?”
“Because Victoria knows you have the flash drive.”
Elena looked at him.
“She threatened my daughter.”
Daniel’s expression changed.
“She knows about Sofia?”
“Yes.”
His face became serious.
“Then she is desperate.”
Elena looked confused.
“What does that mean?”
“It means you are closer to destroying her than anyone has ever been.”
They spent the next hours copying everything.
Every document.
Every recording.
Every piece of evidence.
But before they finished, Daniel’s computer screen suddenly went black.
The power went out.
Elena looked around.
“Did you do that?”
“No.”
Then they heard something outside.
A car door.
Footsteps.
Daniel moved toward the window.
His face changed.
“We need to leave.”
“Who is it?”
He didn’t answer.
He just grabbed the drive.
“Now.”
They rushed out the back door.
Seconds later, the front door exploded open.
Two men entered.
Searching.
Looking for something.
Or someone.
Elena and Daniel ran through the woods behind the house.
Her breath burned.
Her legs hurt.
But she kept going.
Because she knew one thing.
Victoria wasn’t trying to scare her anymore.
She was trying to erase her.
Later that night, Ethan Blackwood sat alone in his office.
He stared at the engagement ring box.
The ring he planned to give Victoria.
The woman he thought he could trust.
Then his phone rang.
Unknown number.
He answered.
“Hello?”
Silence.
Then a woman whispered:
“Ethan…”
He stood.
“Who is this?”
“It’s about Victoria.”
His expression changed.
“Who are you?”
The voice trembled.
“Someone who knows what she did to your father.”
Ethan’s face went pale.
“My father died eighteen months ago.”
“No.”
The woman whispered.
“He was murdered.”
Ethan gripped the phone.
“Who told you to say this?”
Before the caller answered…
The line went dead.
At that exact moment, Victoria entered his office.
She smiled.
“Everything okay?”
Ethan looked at her.
For the first time…
He didn’t see his future wife.
He saw a stranger.
And Victoria noticed.
Because her smile slowly disappeared.
“What happened?”
Ethan stared at her.
“Nothing.”
But Victoria knew.
Something had changed.
And somewhere inside the Blackwood mansion…
May you like
A secret that had been buried for eighteen months…
Was finally beginning to come alive.
