Chapter 3: The Truth The Mansion Could Never Hide

The next morning, the Moretti mansion was surrounded by police.

For the first time in decades, the gates opened.

Not for politicians.

Not for business partners.

For justice.

Victor Romano tried to escape before sunrise.

But he never made it past the garden.

Lucas was waiting.

“You killed my family.”

Victor looked at him.

“You think you’re different from your father?”

Lucas remained silent.

“Look at yourself, Lucas. You built the same empire.”

Maybe years ago, those words would have destroyed him.

But not anymore.

Because Lucas finally understood something.

A person’s past did not decide their future.

Their choices did.

“You’re right.”

Lucas looked toward the mansion.

“I inherited a monster’s name.”

Then he looked back.

“But I don’t have to become one.”

The police arrested Victor.

The investigation revealed everything.

Victor had sabotaged the car.

He had hidden evidence.

He had manipulated everyone.

And the reason?

Revenge.

But revenge had destroyed more than the people he hated.

It destroyed himself.

Months later, the Moretti empire changed forever.

Lucas sold the illegal businesses.

Closed the underground operations.

Turned the company into a legitimate real-estate organization.

People called him weak.

People said he had lost his power.

Lucas didn’t care.

Because he had finally gained something more valuable.

A life.

One year later, the Moretti mansion looked completely different.

The cold halls were filled with laughter.

The marble floors were covered with children’s toys.

And every morning, music played from the sunroom.

Just like Isabella used to play.

Lily was no longer the maid’s little girl.

Lucas adopted her.

Not because he owed her.

Not because she saved his life.

Because she saved something more important.

His humanity.

One evening, Lily sat beside Lucas in the garden.

“Do you miss your family?”

Lucas looked at the sunset.

“Every day.”

Lily held his hand.

“Do they know you’re happy now?”

Lucas smiled softly.

“I think they do.”

The little girl looked at the mansion.

“The house feels different.”

Lucas nodded.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

He looked at her.

“Because for the first time…”

He paused.

“It’s not a mansion anymore.”

Lily smiled.

“What is it?”

Lucas looked at the little girl who had given him a second chance.

“A home.”

And for the first time in many years, the Moretti estate was no longer remembered as the house of fear.
