Chapter 6 - THE TRUTH BEHIND THE VISICARI NAME

When the lights came back on, Marcus was gone.
Not dead.
Gone.
Adrien’s security team searched every floor.
Nothing.
No broken windows.
No open doors.
No escape route.
It was impossible.
But Marcus Blake had disappeared.
Just like my mother.
I looked at Adrien.
“You knew this would happen.”
“No.”
His voice was quiet.
“But I knew someone wanted him alive.”
“Why?”
“Because he knows who gave the orders.”
I crossed my arms.
“And you don’t?”
Adrien didn’t answer.
That answer was enough.
“You don’t know everything.”
“No.”
He looked exhausted for the first time.
“I don’t.”
I walked away.
“I don’t know who to trust anymore.”
Adrien followed.
“Lena.”
I turned.
“What?”
He hesitated.
Then he said:
“My father was not the man everyone believed he was.”
“What does that mean?”
“When I was younger, I thought he was only a businessman.”
He laughed quietly.
“I was wrong.”
The room became silent.
“He built an empire through fear.”
I listened.
“But there was one thing he protected.”
“What?”
“Your mother.”
My eyes widened.
“Why?”
Adrien looked at the old notebook.
“Because she was the only person who knew the truth about him.”
I whispered:
“My mother knew your father’s secrets.”
“Yes.”
“And that’s why she disappeared.”
“Yes.”
I felt dizzy.
“Then why would she warn me away from your family?”
Adrien’s expression changed.
“Because she didn’t know if I was like him.”
The honesty shocked me.
“You?”
“Yes.”
A pause.
“Maybe she was right to be afraid.”
Before I could answer, Marco rushed into the room.
“Adrien.”
His voice was urgent.
“We found something.”
He placed a file on the table.
Inside were documents.
Old documents.
Birth records.
Medical files.
And one photograph.
My hands froze when I saw it.
It was my mother.
Standing beside Adrien’s father.
But they weren’t alone.
A little girl stood between them.
Me.
The date was written underneath.
The date was impossible.
Because according to my memory…
I had never met the Viscari family.
I looked at Adrien.
“What is this?”
He stared at the photograph.
And for the first time, the most feared man in New York looked afraid.
“Lena…”
His voice dropped.
“You weren’t just connected to my family.”
He turned the photograph over.
On the back was a message.
A message written by my mother.
Adrien, if you are reading this, it means they failed to erase her. Protect my daughter. The truth will destroy everyone.
I stopped breathing.
Because beneath the message was another sentence.
One that changed everything.
The person who betrayed us is someone you trust most.
Adrien read the words.
Then slowly looked toward the door.
Because someone was standing outside.
May you like
Someone who had been listening.
Someone who knew our secret.
