THE HOUSE OF GLASS LIES

THE HOUSE OF GLASS LIES

Chapter 1: The Wounded Echo

The scream was not merely a sound.

It was a violent crack in the silence—a sharp, merciless blade tearing through the cold, polished air of the mansion.

Liam froze the moment he heard it.

For a man who had built his entire life around control, around protecting everything he loved, that single scream was enough to make his blood run cold.

He ran toward the kitchen.

And what he saw there would haunt him forever.

His daughter, Lily, was curled up against the corner of the room, her tiny body shaking uncontrollably. Her innocent face, the face he had kissed every morning and promised to protect, was marked with a fresh bruise.

A bruise that should never have existed.

For a few seconds, Liam couldn’t move.

The world around him blurred.

The expensive marble floors. The crystal lights hanging above him. The walls filled with priceless paintings and family memories.

None of it mattered.

Because his little girl was hurt.

“Daddy…”

Lily’s voice was barely a whisper.

A broken, frightened sound that cut deeper than any scream.

Liam dropped to his knees and pulled her into his arms.

Her small hands immediately grabbed onto his shirt, holding him like he was the only safe place left in the world.

Her body trembled against his chest.

And in that moment, Liam didn’t feel anger first.

He felt betrayal.

A deep, suffocating betrayal that froze his heart.

Because this was supposed to be the safest house in the world.

His house.

The place where Lily should have been protected.

But someone had turned it into a nightmare.

“Who did this to you?” Liam whispered, his voice shaking despite every effort to stay calm.

Lily buried her face against him.

She didn’t answer.

And somehow, that silence hurt even more.

Liam looked around the kitchen.

Nothing appeared broken.

Nothing looked out of place.

That was the most terrifying part.

The attack had not come from a stranger breaking into the mansion.

It had happened inside.

Behind these perfect walls.

Among people he trusted.

His hand tightened around Lily as his phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket.

The sound felt unnatural in the silence.

He pulled it out.

One message.

One sentence.

But those few words changed everything.

“The perimeter has been breached.”

Liam stared at the screen.

His expression slowly hardened.

Because that message was not from a security company.

It was not a warning about an intruder.

It was a message only a few people in the world could send.

A message that meant someone had crossed a line.

A line they could never uncross.

Liam looked down at his daughter’s frightened face.

Then he looked toward the dark hallway leading deeper into the mansion.

Someone inside this house had hurt Lily.

Someone who believed they could hide behind wealth, power, and carefully crafted lies.

But they had made one mistake.

They hurt the one person Liam would destroy everything to protect.

He gently wiped the tears from Lily’s cheek.

“Daddy is here,” he whispered.

Then his voice changed.

The warmth disappeared.

The fear disappeared.

Only determination remained.

“And whoever did this…”

Liam slowly stood up, holding his daughter close.

“They’re about to learn what happens when they touch my family.”

The house of glass had always looked beautiful from the outside.

Perfect.

Untouchable.

But Liam was about to discover the truth.

Glass doesn’t protect secrets.

It only makes the moment of breaking much louder.
