Chapter 2 – The Haircut That Changed Everything

Chapter 2 – The Haircut That Changed Everything

The salon fell silent.

The young barber led the old man to the last chair by the window while every pair of eyes followed them.

The receptionist rolled her eyes.

"Don't expect to get paid for this," she muttered.

The barber ignored her.

He carefully wrapped the cape around the old man's shoulders and met his eyes through the mirror.

"What style would you like?"

The old man smiled faintly.

"Just make me look like someone worth hiring."

Those words hit harder than anyone expected.

The buzzing clippers filled the room.

With every pass, years of neglect disappeared.

Long gray hair fell to the floor.

The tangled beard slowly took shape.

The barber worked patiently, never rushing, never treating the old man like a burden.

Ten minutes later...

The reflection in the mirror looked like a completely different person.

His jawline reappeared.

His bright blue eyes no longer hid beneath wild eyebrows.

He looked older...

But dignified.

The old man's eyes filled with tears.

"I almost forgot what I looked like."

The barber smiled.

"You never stopped looking like yourself."

When the haircut was finished, the old man stood up and reached into the inside pocket of his torn coat.

Everyone expected him to search for more loose change.

Instead...

He pulled out an old leather envelope.

"I believe this belongs to you now."

The barber frowned.

"What is it?"

"You'll understand soon."

Without another word, the old man quietly walked out of the salon.

The receptionist laughed.

"What a waste of time."

But when the barber opened the envelope...

May you like

His smile disappeared.

Inside was the original deed to the entire building.
