The Bride Snatched a Locket from a Little Girl—Then Found Her Dead Mother Inside

The bride ripped the gold locket from the little flower girl’s neck just as the groom burst into the room.

The delicate chain snapped.

The seven-year-old stumbled backward, hitting the wall with a dull thud. She clutched her throat, silent tears streaming down her face.

“What are you doing?” the groom shouted.

He stepped in front of the little girl without hesitation.

The bride raised the broken locket with trembling hands, her face burning with rage.

“She stole it!”

The child shook her head.

“I didn’t.”

The bride’s voice cracked.

“It belonged to my mother.”

The groom looked down at the frightened girl.

“Then how did it end up with you?”

The little girl lowered her eyes.

Her lips quivered.

“She gave it to me.”

Silence swallowed the room.

The groom slowly turned to the bride.

His voice became almost a whisper.

“Your mother is dead.”

The bride froze.

The little girl glanced at the locket still hanging from the broken chain.

Then, in a quiet voice, she said,

“You need to open it.”

The bride’s fingers began to tremble.

She pressed the tiny clasp.

The locket clicked open.

The instant she saw what was hidden inside...

Every trace of fury vanished.

The color drained from her face.

Fear flooded her eyes.

Her breathing caught.

Then she looked at the little girl and whispered,

“Where... did you see her?”
