Carlos unfolded the note.
The handwriting belonged to Elena.
His heart nearly stopped.
"If you're reading this... something happened before I could tell you the truth."
The paper trembled in his hands.
It had been written weeks before the accident.
"There's something I've hidden for years because I wanted to protect both of you."
Carlos frowned.
Protect them from what?
The next line hit him like a freight train.
"The crash wasn't an accident."
He looked toward the hallway.
