Chapter 4 — The Last Secret of Alexander Romano

Three days later, Elena was found.

But she wasn’t running.

She was waiting.

In an abandoned warehouse outside the city.

Alexander arrived with Marcus and his security team.

I stayed beside him.

Not because I had to.

Because I chose to.

Elena smiled when she saw me.

“So the maid became his weakness.”

Alexander’s expression turned cold.

“You tried to kill me.”

Elena laughed softly.

“I tried to save myself.”

She revealed the truth.

She wasn’t after Alexander’s money.

She was after control.

Someone inside the Romano organization had promised her power if Alexander died.

“Who?” Marcus demanded.

Elena looked at him.

Then smiled.

“You really don’t know?”

The warehouse doors opened.

A man walked inside.

Everyone froze.

It was Victor Romano.

Alexander’s uncle.

The man everyone believed had disappeared ten years ago.

Alexander stared at him.

“You.”

Victor smiled.

“Your father chose you over me.”

His voice became bitter.

“I spent ten years watching you build an empire that should have been mine.”

The truth finally came out.

Victor had planned everything.

The poisoned medication.

The false evidence.

The betrayal.

Elena was only a tool.

Alexander stepped forward.

“You almost killed me.”

Victor smiled.

“No.”

He looked at Nina.

“She almost did.”

Everyone turned.

Nina froze.

“What?”

Victor laughed.

“The medication was meant to look suspicious. I knew you would find it.”

Marcus immediately understood.

“You wanted Nina to discover it.”

Victor nodded.

“Because Alexander trusts nobody.”

He looked at Nina.

“But he trusts her.”

Silence.

Victor’s plan was never just to kill Alexander.

It was to destroy the one person who could make him vulnerable.

Nina looked at Alexander.

For years, he had built walls around himself.

But she had walked through them.

The police arrived before sunrise.

Victor Romano was arrested.

Elena confessed.

The conspiracy that had nearly destroyed the Romano empire finally ended.

Weeks later, Alexander recovered completely.

The city expected him to return as the same ruthless man.

But they were wrong.

One evening, I found him standing in the garden.

Quiet.

Peaceful.

“You should leave,” he said.

I looked at him.

“Is that what you want?”

He was silent.

Then he shook his head.

“No.”

For the first time, Alexander Romano admitted the truth.

“I spent my entire life believing love was a weakness.”

He looked at me.

“But you saved me when everyone else wanted me dead.”

I smiled softly.

“You’re still dangerous, Mr. Romano.”

A small smile appeared on his face.

“I know.”

He reached for my hand.

“But with you
”

“I want to be different.”

Months later, the Romano mansion changed.

The same walls.

The same history.

But no more secrets.

Alexander rebuilt his empire.

Not with fear.

With loyalty.

And Nina was no longer the invisible servant everyone ignored.

She became the one person who stood beside Alexander Romano when the entire world turned against him.

Because sometimes

the person everyone overlooks

May you like

is the only person who can save you.

THE END
