Chapter 3: The Secret Beatrice Hid

Chapter 3: The Secret Beatrice Hid

Two days later, Lily returned home.

But the Rossi mansion was no longer the same.

The cellar door had been removed.

The security system was replaced.

Every employee was investigated.

But Leo still felt something was wrong.

Because there was one question he could not answer.

Why would Victoria risk everything just to hurt Lily?

The answer came from someone unexpected.

Beatrice.

She found Leo in his office late at night.

“You should be sleeping.”

Leo looked up.

“You too.”

She smiled faintly.

“I’m used to not sleeping.”

The sentence sounded casual.

But Leo noticed.

“What does that mean?”

Beatrice became quiet.

For several seconds, she said nothing.

Then she placed an old photograph on his desk.

Leo picked it up.

His expression changed.

The picture showed a young woman.

Holding a baby.

A baby with a familiar bracelet.

The same bracelet Lily wore when she was born.

“Where did you get this?”

Beatrice swallowed.

“I found it hidden in the old staff records.”

Leo stood immediately.

“What staff records?”

“Your wife’s.”

The room went completely silent.

Leo’s late wife.

Isabella.

The woman killed two years earlier.

The woman everyone believed died in the bombing.

“What are you saying?”

Beatrice looked at him.

“I think Lily’s mother knew someone was trying to hurt her.”

Leo stared at the photograph.

“And you think Victoria was involved?”

Beatrice shook her head.

“No.”

“Then who?”

Beatrice hesitated.

“Someone much closer.”

Before Leo could respond

The office lights suddenly went out.

A second later—

The alarm system screamed.

Leo reached for his weapon.

Mateo rushed inside.

“Leo!”

“What happened?”

Mateo’s face was pale.

“Someone entered the house.”

Leo looked toward Beatrice.

Because she was the only person who knew about the photograph.

The only person who knew the truth.

Then Lily’s voice echoed from the hallway.

“Daddy?”

Everyone froze.

Because behind Lily

A shadow moved.

And someone whispered:

“Hello, Leo.”

May you like

“I think it’s time you learned what really happened to Isabella.”
