Chapter 1: The Woman Nobody Saw

Chapter 1: The Woman Nobody Saw

The entire Rossi estate was silent.

Not the peaceful kind of silence.

The dangerous kind.

The kind that came after a storm destroyed everything in its path.

Leo Rossi sat beside his daughter’s hospital bed, watching the tiny rise and fall of Lily’s chest.

For twelve hours, he had not moved.

Not once.

Doctors had told him she was lucky.

Lucky.

The word almost made him laugh.

There was nothing lucky about his daughter being locked inside a freezing cellar without her inhaler.

There was nothing lucky about finding her barely breathing.

And there was nothing lucky about discovering that the one person who saved her was the woman everyone ignored.

Beatrice Miller.

The maid.

The woman nobody noticed.

Leo looked across the hospital room.

Beatrice sat quietly in the corner.

Her injuries had been treated.

A small bandage covered her cheek.

Her bruised fingers were wrapped carefully.

But she looked more worried about Lily than herself.

That was the part Leo could not understand.

Everyone who entered his world wanted something.

Money.

Power.

Protection.

Fear.

Everyone had an angle.

Everyone except her.

“Why?” Leo finally asked.

Beatrice looked up.

Her tired eyes met his.

“Why did you do it?”

She frowned.

“Do what?”

“Fight Victoria.”

The room became quiet.

Beatrice lowered her eyes.

“Because Lily was scared.”

Leo stared at her.

“That’s all?”

She nodded.

“That’s all.”

For a man who had spent his entire life surrounded by greed, her answer felt impossible.

“You knew who Victoria was.”

“Yes.”

“You knew what could happen if you touched her.”

“Yes.”

“And you still stood between her and my daughter.”

Beatrice looked toward Lily’s sleeping face.

“She called me Bee.”

Her voice became softer.

“She trusted me.”

Leo felt something tighten in his chest.

Because he realized something painful.

His daughter had found comfort in someone else.

Someone he had never even noticed.

A woman who worked inside his house.

A woman who had been there every day.

A woman he had never once asked about.

Before Leo could speak, the hospital door opened.

Mateo entered.

His expression was serious.

Too serious.

Leo immediately noticed.

“What happened?”

Mateo closed the door behind him.

“We checked the security footage.”

Leo’s eyes narrowed.

“And?”

Mateo hesitated.

“Victoria didn’t act alone.”

The room changed instantly.

Leo stood.

“Who helped her?”

Mateo placed a tablet on the table.

A video appeared.

The footage showed Victoria walking through the mansion.

But behind her

Was someone else.

Someone Leo knew.

Someone he trusted.

Someone who had access to every room in his home.

Mateo looked at him.

“Leo
”

The billionaire crime boss stared at the screen.

His face became completely cold.

May you like

Because the person standing behind Victoria was the last person he expected.

His own head of security.
