Chapter 15 - THE SON NOBODY SUSPECTED

No one spoke.

Even Valentina sensed something had changed.

Gabriel's name echoed through the underground vault.

Isabella slowly shook her head.

"That's impossible."

"He was only a boy."

Paulina handed her the file.

The first page contained a handwritten memorandum.

Recommendation accepted. Subject Isabella must remain isolated until succession is secured.

Signed:

Gabriel Villaseñor

Date:

Twenty years earlier.

Ramón stared at the signature.

"He couldn't have had this authority."

Paulina continued reading.

"He didn't."

"He convinced others to act for him."

Another document slipped from the folder.

It was a psychological evaluation.

Gabriel had begun attending board meetings at only sixteen years old.

The report described him with one sentence.

Exceptionally intelligent. Incapable of emotional attachment.

Marisol looked toward Isabella.

"He planned this before Diego even inherited the company."

Paulina nodded.

"He didn't want the company."

"He wanted complete control."

Valentina quietly tugged Diego's photograph from inside the folder.

On the back, written in faded ink, were seven words.

Remove Diego before he learns the truth.

Ramón immediately looked toward the vault entrance.

"We've been here too long."

A faint mechanical sound echoed above them.

Several elevator cables began moving.

Someone was coming down.

The security monitor flickered to life.

A single figure stood inside the descending elevator.

Perfectly tailored dark suit.

Hands calmly folded behind his back.

Gabriel Villaseñor.

He looked directly into the camera.

Then smiled.

"I knew you would come."

The elevator continued descending toward Vault Seven.

And this time...

Gabriel had not come alone.
