Chapter 14 - VAULT SEVEN

Vault Seven lay beneath an abandoned textile warehouse on the outskirts of Mexico City.

The building looked forgotten.

Broken windows.

Rusted machinery.

Dust covered every floor.

No one would imagine billions of dollars in secrets were hidden underneath.

Paulina stopped beside an old freight elevator.

She inserted the silver key.

Nothing happened.

She frowned.

"There should be a fingerprint scanner."

Ramón searched the wall.

"There."

He brushed away years of dust.

A hidden panel slid open.

Paulina placed her hand against the scanner.

A green light flashed.

The elevator shuddered.

Slowly, it descended.

The underground vault was enormous.

Rows of climate-controlled cabinets stretched into darkness.

Thousands of files.

Hard drives.

Original contracts.

Secret recordings.

Every crime carefully preserved.

Marisol whispered,

"My God..."

Paulina looked around silently.

"My father never trusted anyone."

"So he kept copies of everything."

Ramón opened one cabinet.

Inside sat dozens of red folders.

Each carried a family name.

Judges.

Politicians.

Police commanders.

Business leaders.

Everyone had a file.

Then Valentina pointed toward a lower shelf.

"Papá."

Marisol looked down.

A single black folder rested there.

Its label read:

DIEGO VILLASEÑOR — PERSONAL

Paulina slowly picked it up.

She opened the first page.

Her face drained of color.

"What is it?"

Marisol asked.

Paulina looked directly at Isabella.

"It wasn't Don Esteban who ordered your imprisonment."

The room became completely silent.

May you like

"It was Gabriel."
