Chapter 2: The Lie Hidden Behind Luxury

Victoria tried to recover quickly.

She smiled.

“What is going on here?”

Alexander slowly stood.

His expression was no longer that of a loving son.

It was the expression of a businessman who had just discovered betrayal.

“Mother.”

His voice was dangerously calm.

“Where is Sophia’s money?”

Victoria froze.

“What money?”

“The five thousand dollars I send every month.”

The hallway became silent.

Even the hotel staff stopped moving.

Victoria forced a laugh.

“Alexander, this is not the place for this conversation.”

But Sophia’s small voice interrupted.

“Grandma said Daddy forgot about us.”

Alexander turned.

“What?”

Sophia lowered her head.

“She said you were too busy with your company.”

“She said you didn’t want to see Mommy and me.”

Alexander stared at Victoria.

Three years of pain.

Three years of believing his daughter didn’t want him.

Suddenly, every memory felt suspicious.

Victoria reached for his arm.

“Your daughter is confused.”

Alexander stepped away.

“No.”

His eyes hardened.

“I think I’m finally understanding.”
