CHAPTER 1: THE ATTACK THAT WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE SEEN

The first thing Khloe Thorne heard was the sound of her own body hitting the marble floor.

The second thing she felt was fear.

Not for herself.

For her unborn child.

“Please… please don’t…”

Her trembling hands immediately wrapped around her seven-month pregnant stomach as a sharp wave of pain ripped through her body.

For a few seconds, the luxury hospital suite went completely silent.

The kind of silence that only exists after something terrible happens.

Across the room, Isabella Rossi stood frozen beneath the warm golden lights.

She looked nothing like a woman who had just committed an unforgivable act.

Her red designer gown was flawless.

Her hair was perfect.

Her makeup showed no sign of emotion.

She looked like she was standing at a charity event, not inside a private hospital room where a pregnant woman was lying injured on the floor.

Then Isabella smiled.

A small, cold smile.

The smile of someone who believed she had finally won.

“You still don’t understand, do you?” Isabella whispered.

Khloe looked up at her, tears forming in her eyes.

“What is wrong with you?”

Isabella slowly walked closer.

“What’s wrong with me?”

She let out a quiet laugh.

“No, Khloe. The real question is… what was wrong with you for thinking you could take my place?”

Khloe stared at her.

“Your place?”

“Yes.”

Isabella’s voice became sharper.

“Marcus was never supposed to build this life with you.”

The name hit harder than anything.

Marcus Thorne.

Her husband.

The billionaire everyone knew.

The man who had promised her that no one would ever come between them.

But Isabella had been trying for months.

Little by little.

Day by day.

She had been planting doubt.

Creating problems.

Turning every public appearance into a quiet war.

And tonight, she finally stopped hiding.

Earlier that evening, Khloe had stood beside Marcus at the annual Thorne Foundation charity gala.

Thousands of dollars had been raised for children’s hospitals.

Hundreds of cameras had flashed.

Everyone had watched the perfect billionaire couple.

Marcus in his black tuxedo.

Khloe in her elegant white maternity dress.

Smiling.

Holding hands.

Looking unstoppable.

But Isabella had been there.

Watching.

Waiting.

She had watched Marcus kiss Khloe’s forehead.

She had watched him place his hand protectively over her stomach.

And something inside Isabella broke.

Because in her mind…

That life belonged to her.

After hours of pretending, Khloe finally escaped upstairs to her private suite.

She needed peace.

She needed a moment away from fake smiles and fake conversations.

She stood near the window overlooking the city.

One hand resting on her stomach.

“Soon, baby,” she whispered.

“Soon we’ll be home.”

She never expected Isabella to walk in.

“You always did love pretending.”

Khloe turned around.

Her heart immediately sank.

“Isabella.”

The other woman closed the door.

“You look happy.”

Khloe frowned.

“What are you doing here?”

Isabella tilted her head.

“I wanted to see something.”

“See what?”

“The woman who stole my future.”

Khloe shook her head.

“You need help.”

Isabella laughed softly.

“No. I needed patience.”

She stepped forward.

“For months, I watched you.”

“The perfect wife.”

“The perfect pregnancy.”

“The perfect little family.”

Her expression changed.

“And everyone forgot about me.”

Khloe’s voice became firm.

“Marcus chose me.”

Those words were a mistake.

Because Isabella’s face changed instantly.

The jealousy disappeared.

The fake sadness disappeared.

Only anger remained.

“You should never have said that.”

Khloe took a step back.

“Leave.”

But Isabella didn’t.

“You think a ring protects you?”

Another step.

“You think carrying his baby makes you untouchable?”

Khloe reached for her phone.

“I’m calling security.”

Isabella suddenly grabbed her wrist.

“Do you know what I hate most about you?”

Khloe tried to pull away.

“Let go of me!”

“You never even had to fight for him.”

The next moment happened too fast.

Isabella shoved her.

Hard.

Khloe lost her balance.

Her body crashed backward into the marble table.

A crystal glass fell from above.

The sound of it breaking echoed throughout the room.

Khloe gasped.

Her breathing became uneven.

“My baby…”

She tried to stand.

She tried to hold onto the table.

But Isabella only watched.

And then she did something even worse.

She stepped forward.

Her heel struck Khloe’s side.

Khloe collapsed.

The pain was overwhelming.

The world around her became blurry.

All she could hear was her own heartbeat.

Then Isabella leaned down.

“You should have disappeared when you had the chance.”

Khloe looked at her.

“You’re going to regret this.”

For the first time, Isabella looked uncertain.

But only for a second.

Because she believed she had already created the perfect story.

A desperate woman.

A jealous wife.

A misunderstanding.

Then—

The door exploded open.

“KHLOE!”

Marcus Thorne stood there.

His face changed instantly.

The man who had negotiated billion-dollar deals without fear suddenly looked terrified.

Behind him stood Elaine Parker, the charity event coordinator.

Nobody spoke.

Nobody moved.

Marcus looked at his wife on the floor.

Then at Isabella.

The broken glass.

The damaged room.

The truth was obvious.

But before he could say anything…

Isabella started crying.

“I didn’t do anything.”

Her voice trembled.

“She attacked me.”

Marcus stared at her.

“What?”

“I was trying to help her.”

She looked toward Khloe.

“She became angry and pushed me.”

A perfect lie.

A convincing lie.

The kind of lie that could destroy a person’s entire life.

For a moment, nobody knew what to believe.

Except one person.

The hospital security system.

Because hidden above them…

A camera had recorded everything.

Every word.

Every movement.

Every second.

And Isabella had no idea.

The evidence that would destroy Khloe…

Was actually the evidence that would destroy her.

But before Marcus discovered the truth…

Someone else arrived at the hospital.

Someone Isabella never expected to see.

Someone who knew exactly what kind of person Isabella Rossi really was.

And when he walked through those doors…

May you like

The entire Thorne family secret was about to come crashing down.
