Chapter 2: The Secret Behind Victoria’s Smile

Victoria’s perfect image began to collapse.
“That’s impossible,” she said quickly.
Her voice was calm.
Too calm.
“I never touched that syringe.”
But the evidence was already there.
The fingerprints.
The security footage.
The witness.
Everything pointed toward her.
Judge Harrison looked at Victoria with disappointment.
“For years, you presented yourself as a loyal supporter of justice.”
Victoria’s eyes narrowed.
“You don’t understand what’s happening.”
“No,” the judge replied.
“I think I’m finally understanding.”
But Lily noticed something strange.
Victoria wasn’t acting like someone who had been caught.
She was acting like someone who was protecting someone else.
Later that night, Judge Harrison brought Lily into a private room.
“Why did you really save me?” he asked.
Lily looked confused.
“Because you were about to get hurt.”
“No,” the judge said softly.
“There is more.”
Lily became quiet.
Then she reached into her pocket.
She pulled out a small envelope.
“I found this in the kitchen before the banquet.”
Judge Harrison opened it.
Inside was a photograph.
The picture showed Victoria standing beside another man.
A man who had disappeared from the city five years earlier.
Judge Harrison recognized him immediately.
“Daniel Cross…”
His expression changed.
“That man was involved in a corruption case I handled.”
Lily nodded.
“I heard Victoria talking to him on the phone.”
“What did she say?”
Lily looked terrified.
“She said… ‘The judge cannot expose what happened five years ago. If he talks, everything falls apart.’”
The judge stared at the photograph.
Suddenly, the attack made sense.
Victoria wasn’t trying to kill him because of a personal argument.
She was trying to protect a secret.
A secret powerful enough to destroy everyone involved.
Meanwhile, Victoria sat alone in a dark room inside the mansion.
Her phone rang.
She answered.
“You failed,” a man’s voice said.
Victoria closed her eyes.
“She saw me.”
Silence.
Then the man replied:
“Then deal with the girl.”
Victoria looked through the glass window.
Outside, Lily was walking toward the police car.

A cold expression appeared on Victoria’s face.
“She won’t talk.”
