Chapter 1: The Girl Everyone Ignored

The entire banquet hall remained frozen.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
All eyes were locked on the small syringe hidden beneath Judge Harrison’s chair.
For years, Lily had been invisible.
She was just the young kitchen assistant who carried heavy trays, cleaned empty glasses, and stood quietly in corners while powerful people laughed and celebrated around her.
Nobody remembered her name.
Nobody cared about her opinion.
But tonight, the girl everyone ignored had stopped a murder.
Judge Harrison slowly stood up and looked at Lily.
“Where did you find this?” he asked.
Lily swallowed hard.
Her hands were still shaking.
“I saw someone near your chair earlier,” she whispered.
Victoria immediately stepped forward.
“That’s ridiculous,” she said coldly. “She’s just a frightened kitchen worker trying to create drama.”
But Judge Harrison noticed something.
Victoria wasn’t looking at Lily.
She was looking at the syringe.
And for a brief moment…
Fear appeared on her face.
“Everyone stay where they are,” the judge ordered.
Security surrounded the chair.
The guests began whispering.
Who would dare try to poison one of the most respected judges in the city?
Lily lowered her eyes.
She knew she was walking into danger.
Because she knew something nobody else knew.
She had seen who placed the syringe.
And it wasn’t a stranger.
It was someone standing inside that room.
The police arrived within minutes.
The syringe was taken for testing.
Everyone was questioned.
Except Lily.
Because Victoria had already convinced the event organizers that Lily was unstable.
“She’s just a poor girl looking for attention,” Victoria told the officers.
“She probably planted it herself.”
The accusation hit Lily harder than she expected.
She looked down at her uniform.
At the stains on her apron.
At the shoes she had worn for years.
For a moment, she wondered if Victoria was right.
Maybe nobody would believe her.
Then Judge Harrison walked over.
“Lily,” he said calmly.
She looked up.
“Yes, sir?”
“Tell me exactly what happened.”
The room became silent.
Lily took a deep breath.
“I was bringing dessert to the table when I saw Mrs. Victoria standing behind your chair.”
Victoria’s expression changed.
“That’s a lie.”
But Lily continued.
“She had something in her hand. I couldn’t see what it was. Then she told me to leave the area.”
The judge stared at Victoria.
“Is that true?”
Victoria smiled.
A perfect, controlled smile.
“She’s confused.”
But before anyone could respond…
A security officer rushed back into the room.
“Judge Harrison…”
Everyone turned.
“We found fingerprints on the syringe.”
The judge’s face became serious.
“Whose?”
The officer hesitated.
Then answered:
May you like
“Victoria’s.”
The room exploded.
