After dinner, Margaret, Daniel’s mother, pulled Lily aside.
She gently asked:
“Sweetheart, why did you say Emily’s tummy was a pillow?”
Lily looked confused.
“Because I saw it.”
Margaret frowned.
“Where?”
The little girl pointed toward the upstairs hallway.
“In Daddy’s room.”
The room suddenly became quiet.
Daniel stopped pouring his drink.
Emily looked at him.
“What does she mean?”
Daniel forced a laugh.
“She’s a child. She doesn’t know what she’s saying.”
But Lily continued.
