Chapter 11 - THE LIE THAT MADE DANIEL A MONSTER

The video played.

Daniel watched himself on the screen.

Standing in his father’s office.

Holding documents.

Talking.

Signing papers.

His own voice filled the room.

“I understand.”

Daniel’s face turned pale.

“No…”

Robert smiled.

“Recognize it?”

Daniel couldn’t answer.

Because it was him.

The face.

The voice.

The signature.

Everything.

“You helped him,” Robert said.

Daniel shook his head.

“I don’t remember that.”

“Convenient.”

“No.”

Daniel looked at Rachel.

“Something is wrong.”

Rachel nodded slowly.

“I believe you.”

Robert laughed.

“Of course she does.”

He walked closer.

“Daniel has spent his entire life pretending he’s different from his father.”

Robert looked at Lily.

“But the truth is…”

He pointed at the screen.

“He became exactly like him.”

Daniel’s anger exploded.

“You’re lying.”

Robert smiled.

“Am I?”

He pressed another button.

A second video appeared.

This one showed Daniel entering a private clinic.

The same clinic where Lily’s adoption records were changed.

Daniel felt sick.

“I never went there.”

Robert leaned closer.

“Then why is your face on every camera?”

Silence.

Daniel looked at his hands.

He felt lost.

What if he really did something?

What if someone had manipulated him?

What if his memories were wrong?

Then Lily spoke.

“No.”

Everyone looked at her.

The little girl stepped forward.

“Dad didn’t do that.”

Robert smiled.

“You’re just a child.”

Lily shook her head.

“My dad always tells the truth.”

Daniel’s heart broke.

Because even with everything falling apart…

His daughter still believed in him.

Robert’s expression became colder.

“Take them.”

The men moved forward.

Daniel immediately pushed Lily behind him.

“No one touches her.”

Then Rachel pulled out a small device.

“Wait.”

Robert stopped.

“What is that?”

Rachel smiled.

“Something Sarah prepared.”

She pressed a button.

The mansion speakers turned on.

A recording began.

Sarah’s voice filled the entire house.

“If you are hearing this, Robert, it means you failed.”

Robert’s smile disappeared.

Daniel looked around.

Sarah continued.

“I knew you would try to make Daniel look guilty.”

A pause.

“But you made one mistake.”

The room became silent.

“You forgot that Daniel’s father taught him one thing.”

Robert frowned.

“What?”

Sarah’s voice continued.

“Always keep copies.”

Rachel opened a laptop.

On the screen were thousands of files.

Bank records.

Messages.

Private conversations.

Everything.

Robert’s face changed.

“No.”

Daniel stared.

“You recorded him?”

Rachel nodded.

“Sarah spent two years collecting proof.”

Robert stepped backward.

For the first time…

He looked afraid.

Then Vanessa appeared at the doorway.

Everyone turned.

Daniel stared.

“You’re alive?”

Vanessa looked exhausted.

“I escaped.”

Robert looked furious.

“You idiot.”

Vanessa ignored him.

She looked at Daniel.

“I tried to warn you.”

Daniel laughed bitterly.

“After everything?”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“I made mistakes.”

“You locked Emma away.”

“I was scared.”

“That doesn’t excuse it.”

Vanessa lowered her head.

“No.”

She looked at Lily.

“I know.”

Then suddenly…

A gunshot echoed.

Everyone froze.

The laptop fell to the floor.

Rachel collapsed.

Robert had pulled a weapon.

And he was running toward Lily.

Daniel moved instantly.

But Robert reached Lily first.

He grabbed her arm.

“Your mother should have left you hidden.”

Daniel shouted:

“LET HER GO!”

Robert smiled.

“Why?”

He whispered.

“Because she’s the only evidence left that can destroy us all.”

Then Lily looked up.

And said something that made Robert freeze.

May you like

“I know who my real mother is.”
