PART 3 — The Woman They Underestimated

Diego’s anger exploded.
“You embarrassed me in front of everyone!”
His voice shook the room.
But this time, nobody rushed to defend him.
Because everyone had finally seen the truth.
Sofía stepped closer.
“No, Diego.”
Her voice remained calm.
“You embarrassed yourself.”
He stared at her.
“You let my mother humiliate my daughters.”
Silence.
“You watched her throw food at them.”
Another pause.
“And you told me not to ruin your party.”
Diego opened his mouth.
But no words came out.
Because there was nothing he could say.
Everyone had seen it.
The moment a father chose his image over his children.
Doña Amparo stood up.
“You are destroying my son because you are jealous!”
Sofía turned toward her.
“No.”
She smiled slightly.
“I am ending the illusion that allowed you to hurt us.”
Then Sofía reached into her bag again.
This time, she pulled out a folder.
She placed it on the table.
Inside were property documents.
Company records.
Financial reports.
The guests leaned closer.
One of them picked up the papers.
His eyes widened.
“Wait…”
He looked at Sofía.
“These properties belong to you?”
Nobody spoke.
The woman they had ignored for ten years was suddenly the most powerful person in the room.
Sofía finally revealed the truth.
“I am the founder of Vega Real Estate Group.”
A company known throughout Mexico City.
A company that had developed luxury apartments, commercial buildings, and private residences.
A company worth millions.
Diego had spent years pretending to provide for her.
But the truth was the opposite.
Sofía had been the reason their family survived.
She had paid bills.
She had covered debts.
She had protected his reputation.
And he repaid her by making her daughters feel worthless.
Emilia held her mother’s hand.
“Mommy…”
Sofía looked down.
“Yes, sweetheart?”
“Are we poor?”
The question broke the room.
Sofía knelt beside her daughter.
“No, my love.”
She gently touched her face.
“We were never poor.”
She looked toward Diego.
“We were surrounded by people who had everything except kindness.”
That sentence hurt more than any accusation.
The next morning, the truth spread everywhere.
The fake mansion.
The unpaid debts.
The stolen image.
Diego’s reputation collapsed within days.
The bank accounts he depended on were frozen.
The people who once admired him stopped answering his calls.
Even his own friends disappeared.
May you like
Because they had not loved Diego.
They had loved the person he pretended to be.
