Chapter 4 — The Woman I Finally Became

Three months later, the divorce was finalized.

Ricardo left with exactly what he had brought into the marriage.

A suitcase.

A watch.

And a reputation no one wanted to hire.

Jimena disappeared from his life long before the paperwork was signed.

She had discovered that luxury built on lies disappears the moment the money stops flowing.

As for me...

I stayed in the same house.

Not because it reminded me of him.

Because it never truly belonged to him.

It belonged to the woman who had worked eighteen-hour days, risked everything to build a company, and forgotten somewhere along the way that success means nothing if you tolerate betrayal.

One Saturday morning, I stood in my garden again.

The same faded hoodie.

The same old jeans.

My hands covered in dirt.

A delivery driver arrived with a package.

"Good morning," he smiled.

"Are you the homeowner?"

I smiled back.

"Yes."

"I've been here for twelve years."

This time, I didn't say it for anyone else.

I said it for myself.

Because respect doesn't come from designer clothes, expensive handbags, or borrowed wealth.

It comes from knowing exactly who you are...

Even when someone mistakes you for someone else.

May you like

And for the first time in a very long time...

I felt completely at home.
