Chapter 7 — The House That Became Home

One year later, snow covered Brookline again.

But this time, the house felt different.

There was laughter.

Music.

Warm lights.

Family.

Hannah stood by the window watching the snow fall.

“You know,” she said.

“I used to think you saved me that day.”

I looked at her.

“But you didn’t.”

She smiled.

“You reminded me that I could save myself.”

I held her hand.

Because that was the truth.

I did not rescue my daughter.

I simply opened the door.

She was the one who walked through it.

The house was never about ownership.

It was never about money.

It was never about a deed.

It was about one mother discovering that her daughter had been suffering silently...

And one daughter finally remembering that she deserved to be loved.

Years later, people would still talk about the beautiful Brookline house.

But they would never know the most important thing about it.

The house did not belong to the person whose name was on the paperwork.

May you like

It belonged to the person who finally brought love back inside.

And that person was Hannah.
