Chapter 2 – The Hidden Account

Emma didn't sleep.
No matter how tightly she held Noah, every time she closed her eyes she saw the same image—Ryan standing shirtless in Claire's living room while birthday candles burned between them.
At three in the morning, she quietly laid Noah in his bed and opened her laptop.
She wasn't looking for proof anymore.
She already had that.
She wanted answers.
Ryan had always insisted on handling their finances. Every paycheck went into their joint account before he transferred money into savings and investments she barely understood. She had trusted him completely.
Now she logged into their online banking.
The checking account looked normal.
The savings account looked normal.
Then she noticed something strange.
A recurring transfer.
Every month.
Exactly five thousand dollars.
Sent to an account she had never seen before.
The transfers had started almost two years earlier.
Long before today.
Long before she had suspected anything.
Emma's pulse quickened.
She searched through old tax documents and insurance records until she found it.
The account belonged to a company called Graystone Property Holdings.
Ryan wasn't listed anywhere.
But one name appeared again and again.
Claire Reynolds.
Her own sister.
Emma stared at the screen, unable to breathe.
This wasn't just an affair.
Ryan had secretly been moving their family's money into a business he owned with Claire.
For nearly two years.
Then another notification appeared.
An email confirmation from the family cloud account Ryan had forgotten to log out of.
Tomorrow. 10:00 A.M. Lawyer's Office. Final signature.
Attached was a property contract.
