Chapter 4: Justice Has a Name

Two months later...

Courtroom 4B was filled beyond capacity.

Khloe entered slowly, still recovering from months of rehabilitation.

Beside her walked Harrison.

In her arms rested baby Grace.

Tiny.

Fragile.

Alive.

The courtroom stood in silence.

Richard stared at his daughter for the first time.

Tears filled his eyes.

"Khloe... please."

She looked at him calmly.

"You stopped being Grace's father the moment you chose another family over your own."

He lowered his head.

The judge entered.

After six weeks of testimony, the verdict came quickly.

Vanessa Kensington was found guilty of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and causing serious bodily injury to both mother and child.

She was sentenced to decades in state prison.

Richard Harrington pleaded guilty to financial crimes, fraud, conspiracy, and asset concealment.

His fortune was seized.

His company dissolved.

His professional licenses were revoked.

He would spend years behind bars.

As deputies led them away, neither looked back.

Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded Harrison.

"Mr. Cole, do you have any statement?"

He smiled for the first time since the attack.

"I do."

The microphones fell silent.

"My sister believed justice was about revenge."

He looked toward Khloe holding little Grace beneath the warm afternoon sun.

"But justice isn't destroying evil."

He gently rested a hand on his niece's tiny head.

"It's making sure evil never gets another chance to destroy anyone else."

Khloe smiled through grateful tears.

She no longer had a mansion.

She no longer had a husband.

But she had something infinitely more valuable.

Her daughter.

Her brother.

Her freedom.

And a future no one would ever steal again.

The End.
