Chapter 1: The Fall That Changed Everything

Sarah always believed family was the one place where she would be safe.

She was wrong.

At seven months pregnant, Sarah had spent months preparing for the arrival of her first child. Every tiny outfit she bought carried a dream. Every little blanket represented a future she couldn’t wait to hold.

But inside her childhood home, the people who were supposed to love her had already decided she was a problem.

Especially her brother Jason.

For years, Jason had been treated like the golden child.

Their father defended him no matter what.

When Jason lost money, their father fixed it.

When Jason made mistakes, their father found excuses.

And when Sarah finally built a happy life with Daniel, Jason couldn’t stand seeing her succeed.

“She thinks she’s better than us now,” Jason once told their father.

Their father only smiled.

“She’ll come back when life teaches her a lesson.”

Sarah never imagined those words would become a warning.

That afternoon, she returned to the family house to collect the last few baby items her mother had stored there.

She carried a box filled with tiny clothes.

A blue onesie.

A pair of newborn socks.

A small blanket embroidered with the words:

“Welcome to the world, little one.”

She smiled softly.

She didn’t know it would be the last peaceful moment of the day.

As she reached the staircase, Jason appeared behind her.

His footsteps were slow.

Cold.

“Still pretending everything is perfect?” he asked.

Sarah turned around.

“What are you talking about?”

Jason laughed.

“You walk around like you’re some kind of queen because Daniel takes care of you.”

Sarah frowned.

“Jason, I don’t want to fight.”

But Jason stepped closer.

“You always thought you were better than this family.”

“That’s not true.”

“You left us.”

Sarah stared at him.

“I got married.”

“To a man who thinks he can protect you.”

His voice became darker.

“He doesn’t belong here.”

Sarah tightened her grip on the box.

“Move, Jason.”

That was when his expression changed.

The anger.

The jealousy.

The resentment he had been hiding for years.

Everything came out.

“You really think you can tell me what to do?”

Before Sarah could react...

Jason pushed her.

Hard.

Her body lost balance.

The box slipped from her hands.

The baby clothes flew through the air.

And Sarah fell.

The sound of her body hitting the wooden stairs echoed through the house.

One step.

Then another.

Then another.

Until she reached the bottom.

Pain exploded through her body.

Her hands immediately covered her stomach.

“My baby…”

Her voice was barely a whisper.

“My baby…”

At the top of the stairs, Jason stood there.

Watching.

And then their father walked into the hallway.

Instead of calling for help...

He laughed.

“She’s fine,” he said.

Sarah looked up in disbelief.

“Dad…”

But he ignored her.

“She always exaggerates.”

Then Daniel arrived.

The front door opened violently.

“Sarah!”

Daniel rushed inside.

The moment he saw his pregnant wife lying on the floor, his face turned pale.

He dropped beside her.

“Look at me. Stay awake.”

Sarah grabbed his hand.

“Daniel…”

“I’m here.”

Then he heard it.

The laughter.

The cruel words.

The complete lack of regret.

His eyes slowly moved toward the staircase.

Jason froze.

Because Daniel wasn’t looking at him with confusion.

He was looking at him like a man who had just discovered the truth.

Then Daniel noticed something beside Sarah.

Her phone.

The screen was still glowing.

A recording was active.

Daniel picked it up.

May you like

And for the first time...

Jason looked afraid.
