Chapter 1 — The Fall That Silenced The Party

Chapter 1 — The Fall That Silenced The Party
The birthday celebration was supposed to be the happiest night of Bridget Lawson’s life.
The mansion was glowing with golden lights.
Hundreds of candles surrounded the garden.
Family members laughed beneath the expensive decorations while champagne flowed freely.
But everything changed in six seconds.
A scream cut through the music.
Then came the sound of a body hitting stone.
THUD.
Everyone turned.
Bridget Lawson was lying on the terrace below.
Her black dress was covered in dust.
Her hands trembled as she tried to push herself up.
“Help me…”
Her voice cracked.
“I can’t feel my legs.”
The entire party froze.
And then Tyler Lawson appeared at the edge of the terrace.
His face showed perfect shock.
Almost too perfect.
“He pushed me!”
Bridget cried.
A wave of whispers spread through the crowd.
Tyler immediately raised his hands.
“What? No… Bridget, that’s impossible. I was trying to help you.”
Everyone looked confused.
Everyone except one person.
Sarah Chen.
The paramedic who had arrived five minutes earlier after a guest called emergency services.
She didn’t look at Tyler.
She didn’t look at the crowd.
She looked at the scene.
The broken glass.
The terrace edge.
The position of Bridget’s body.
And Tyler’s shoes.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
Sarah slowly lowered herself beside Bridget.
“Don’t move,” she said gently.
Then she examined her injuries.
Everyone waited for her reaction.
But Sarah remained silent.
Until she looked up.
Directly at Tyler.
And Tyler’s confident expression disappeared.
