Chapter 1: The Night He Left Me to Die

The last thing I remember before the darkness swallowed me was my husband’s smile.
Not a smile of love.
Not a smile of regret.
A smile of victory.
Richard stood outside the industrial freezer door, one hand resting on the cold metal handle, watching me collapse against the frozen floor.
For twelve years, I had stood beside him.
I built the company with him.
I sacrificed my career for his dreams.
I defended him when investors doubted him.
I believed I was his partner.
But to Richard, I was nothing more than an obstacle.
A name on a document.
A signature he needed to erase.
"You should have just signed the divorce papers," he said calmly through the small glass window.
My fingers were already turning numb.
"Richard… why?"
He tilted his head slightly, pretending to be hurt.
"Because you refused to give me everything."
Everything.
That was the only word that mattered to him.
The company.
The fortune.
The properties.
Even the life we built together.
He wanted it all.
And the easiest way to get it was to make sure I disappeared.
"I already arranged everything," he whispered.
"The doctors will say you had a medical emergency."
"The company will move into my name."
"And everyone will believe I lost my wife."
He smiled.
"Poor Richard. The grieving husband."
Then he walked away.
The sound of his footsteps faded.
The freezer door remained locked.
And for the first time in my life...
I understood who I had married.
A monster wearing a perfect suit.
But what Richard didn't know...
was that I had spent the last six months preparing for this exact moment.
Because I had discovered his affair.
His secret accounts.
His plan to steal my shares.
And most importantly...
I discovered he was willing to kill me.
So I prepared.
Every hallway.
Every office.
Every room in our company.
Had cameras.
Hidden recordings.
Backups.
I knew Richard would eventually make his move.
I just didn't know he would be foolish enough to make it so obvious.
My body was getting weaker.
The cold was taking over.
My vision blurred.
But before losing consciousness, I reached into my jacket.
My frozen fingers touched a small device.
A recorder.
Still working.
I pressed the button.
"Emergency recording activated."
A weak smile appeared on my face.
Richard thought he had locked me away forever.

But he didn't realize...
he had just created the evidence that would destroy him.
