CHAPTER 3 — The Family That Finally Came Home

Three months later...

The same hotel looked completely different.

The ballroom that once held secrets was now filled with laughter.

But this time...

It was not a wedding.

It was a family celebration.

Helen stood beside Tony.

Not wearing a maid uniform.

Not standing in the background.

But standing where she always belonged.

Beside him.

Their son, Lucas, ran through the room holding a small toy car.

Tony watched him with a smile.

A smile he thought he would never have.

"I missed everything."

Tony's voice became emotional.

"His first steps."

"His first words."

"His first day of school."

Helen reached for his hand.

"You can't change the past."

"But you can love him today."

Tony nodded.

"I promise."

The years they lost could never return.

But the future was still theirs.

Later that evening, Tony walked through the same ballroom where Helen had been humiliated.

The same place where everyone once looked down on her.

He stopped in the center.

And looked at the guests.

"I want everyone here to remember something."

"The person you ignore today..."

"May be the person who carries a story you will never understand."

He looked at Helen.

"The woman everyone called a maid..."

"Was the woman who gave me the greatest gift of my life."

Helen smiled through tears.

Lucas ran into their arms.

And for the first time in twenty years...

Helen was no longer waiting.

No longer hiding.

No longer forgotten.

May you like

She was home.

THE END.
