Chapter 2: The Wife Behind the Mask

I spent the next forty-eight hours collecting evidence.

Quietly.

Carefully.

Every message.

Every receipt.

Every strange behavior.

I hired a private investigator without telling anyone.

Especially not Celeste.

Because the woman I married wasn't careless.

She was calculated.

The investigator found something disturbing.

Celeste had been researching Noah's symptoms weeks before his first attack.

Not after.

Before.

She searched phrases like:

“child stomach pain without medical evidence”

“making someone appear unstable”

“long-term effects of contaminated food”

My blood ran cold.

She wasn't trying to help my son.

She was studying how to control him.

Then came the discovery that destroyed everything.

Celeste wasn't alone.

Her brother Mark was involved.

The same man who always laughed at me.

The same man who called me weak.

The same man who constantly asked about my business accounts.

They had been planning something.

A conversation between them was recovered from a hidden audio recording.

Mark's voice filled the room.

“Once Daniel thinks Noah is unstable, custody becomes easier.”

Celeste answered calmly.

“And once Daniel looks paranoid, nobody will believe him.”

I stopped the recording.

I couldn't breathe.

They weren't just hurting Noah.

They were building a case against me.

They wanted me to lose my son.

They wanted me to look crazy.

And while I was fighting to save him…

They were preparing to take everything from me.

That night, I sat beside Noah's bed.

He was finally sleeping peacefully.

I watched him for almost an hour.

Then his eyes slowly opened.

“Dad?”

I smiled.

“I'm here.”

His tiny voice shook.

“Are you mad at me?”

My heart broke.

“What?”

He looked down.

“Mommy said I was making problems.”

I felt something inside me break.

“Noah.”

I held his hand.

“Listen to me.”

“You are not crazy.”

“You are not a problem.”

“You are my son.”

Tears filled his eyes.

“I knew something was wrong.”

“I knew you believed me.”

I hugged him.

And in that moment, I made a promise.

Not to punish Celeste.

Not to destroy her.

Something much stronger.

I promised Noah that nobody would ever make him afraid to speak again.

The next morning, I made my move.

I invited Celeste and Mark to dinner.

They arrived smiling.

Confident.

They thought they had won.

Celeste sat across from me.

“You seem different lately.”

I smiled.

“I learned something.”

“What?”

I placed a folder on the table.

Her smile faded.

“People reveal themselves when they think they are untouchable.”

Mark reached for the folder.

I stopped him.

“Careful.”

Inside were copies of everything.

The searches.

The recordings.

The evidence.

For the first time, Celeste looked afraid.

But I wasn't finished.

May you like

Because the final piece of evidence was still coming.

And it would destroy everything she built.
