BREAKING: "The Monster Wearing My Wife's Face"
Chapter 1: The Silent Alarm
Arthur wasn’t supposed to be home until six o’clock.
But all afternoon, something felt wrong.
A cold, unbearable pressure had settled deep inside his chest. He couldn’t explain it. There was no evidence, no reason, no phone call to justify the feeling crawling through his mind.
Just instinct.
A silent warning.
The kind of feeling that tells you something is waiting for you on the other side of a door.
By three-thirty, Arthur couldn’t ignore it anymore. He shut down his computer, grabbed his keys, and left the office without giving anyone an explanation.
The entire drive home, his hands stayed tight around the steering wheel.
Something was wrong.
He could feel it.
When his car finally turned into the driveway, the first thing he noticed was the silence.
Not peaceful silence.
Wrong silence.
The house that was usually filled with the sounds of cartoons, children laughing, and toys crashing across the floor felt completely empty.
The lawn was untouched.
No bikes.
No scattered toys.
No signs that his children had been playing outside.
Arthur stepped through the front door slowly.
“Sarah?”
No answer.
“Leo? Maya?”
Only silence greeted him.
His stomach tightened.
His wife always answered. His children always ran toward him.
But now, the house felt like it was holding its breath.
Then—
A sound.
A low, muffled thud beneath his feet.
Arthur froze.
The noise came from below.
The basement.
Every instinct inside him screamed to run.
Instead, he moved toward the basement door.
His heartbeat grew louder with every step.
He grabbed the handle and pulled it open.
The cold air rising from the darkness below made his skin crawl.
“Sarah?” he called again, his voice shaking.
Nothing.
Only the faint flicker of a broken light at the bottom of the stairs.
Arthur gripped the railing and started walking down.
One step.
Then another.
His heart pounded against his ribs.
He had no idea what waited for him in that basement.
He didn’t know that the truth hidden beneath his own home would destroy everything he believed about his family.
Because the woman he loved…
May you like
The woman who wore his wife’s face…
Was not the person he thought she was.
