Chapter 2: The Secret Behind Emma Whitmore

The entire ballroom waited.
Nobody understood what was happening.
Margaret’s face changed from anger to confusion.
“What game are you playing?”
Emma calmly adjusted the torn fabric of her dress.
“A game?”
She smiled.
“No, Margaret. This isn’t a game.”
Daniel stepped forward.
“Emma, stop this.”
She looked at him.
For the first time, there was no love in her eyes.
Only disappointment.
“You knew.”
Daniel froze.
“Knew what?”
“That your family investigated me.”
Silence.
Emma continued.
“You knew they searched my background. You knew they tried to find something embarrassing about me.”
Daniel looked away.
Because it was true.
The Whitmore family believed Emma was only a simple designer with no powerful connections.
They thought they were saving Daniel from marrying beneath him.
But they were wrong.
Very wrong.
Emma reached into her purse and pulled out a small black card.
She placed it on the table.
One of the guests picked it up.
His face immediately changed.
“Impossible…”
Margaret grabbed the card.
Her hands started shaking.
Because she recognized the logo.
The symbol belonged to one of the largest investment companies in the country.
A company worth billions.
A company whose mysterious owner had never appeared publicly.
The name printed below shocked everyone.
Emma Whitmore.
The ballroom exploded with whispers.
Daniel stared at her.
“You’re the owner?”
Emma looked at him.
“No.”

She paused.
“I’m the founder.”
