Chapter 14 - THE LAST DINNER AT BEAUMONT HOUSE

Beaumont House had never felt colder.

The same place where Tessa had entered the kitchen as a waitress.

The same place where she had cooked a meal nobody believed she could make.

Now it was a battlefield.

Ronan walked through the empty dining room.

Every memory returned.

His mother.

His childhood.

The night everything changed.

Tessa followed beside him.

“You okay?”

Ronan smiled faintly.

“No.”

She looked surprised.

He continued.

“But I’m finally done running.”

They reached the kitchen.

The place where everything began.

And waiting there…

was Victor Voss.

The old chef stood near the stove.

Calm.

Almost peaceful.

“You always loved dramatic entrances, Ronan.”

Ronan raised his weapon.

“You killed my mother.”

Victor sighed.

“I saved this family.”

Tessa stared.

“How can you say that?”

Victor looked at her.

“Because you don’t understand.”

“I understand enough.”

“No.”

His expression changed.

“You have no idea what your mother was capable of.”

Ronan stepped forward.

“Don’t talk about her.”

Victor laughed.

“Your mother was brilliant.”

A pause.

“And that was the problem.”

He walked around the kitchen.

“She believed people could be trusted.”

“You used her.”

“Yes.”

Victor admitted it without shame.

“I did.”

The honesty shocked everyone.

“Why?”

Victor looked at Ronan.

“Because power belongs to people willing to take it.”

Ronan’s voice became cold.

“So you destroyed your own family.”

“I built something stronger.”

“You destroyed everything.”

Victor smiled.

“That’s the difference between us.”

“What?”

“You still care.”

The words hit.

Because Victor knew.

Ronan’s weakness was the same thing that made him human.

His heart.

Victor looked at Tessa.

“Do you know why your mother gave you away?”

Tessa froze.

“Because she knew you would be hunted.”

Victor stepped closer.

“She chose Eda because she trusted her.”

“And you killed her for that.”

“Yes.”

Silence.

Tessa felt tears forming.

The woman who raised her.

The woman who loved her.

Was killed because she protected her.

Victor continued.

“But there was one thing Elena never understood.”

“What?”

“She believed love could defeat greed.”

He smiled.

“She was wrong.”

Suddenly, the kitchen doors opened.

Police rushed inside.

Everyone froze.

Ronan looked confused.

Then Victor smiled.

“You thought you won?”

A phone appeared in Victor’s hand.

A recording.

A fake recording.

Edited voices.

Evidence planted.

Victor had prepared everything.

The police officer looked at Ronan.

“Mr. Callahan, you are under arrest.”

Tessa stared.

“What?”

Victor laughed.

“Fourteen years ago, your mother died.”

He pointed at Ronan.

“And now everyone will believe her son finished what his father started.”

Ronan looked around.

Everyone had weapons aimed at him.

For the first time…

he had no way out.

Then Tessa stepped forward.

“No.”

Everyone looked at her.

She held up the hidden chip.

“You forgot one thing.”

Victor’s smile disappeared.

“What?”

“My mother.”

She looked at Ronan.

“She always had a backup plan.”

The chip contained everything.

Financial records.

Videos.

Voice recordings.

Proof of Victor’s crimes.

But there was one final file.

One video.

Elena Callahan.

Recorded fourteen years earlier.

Her face appeared on the screen.

Ronan stopped breathing.

“Ronan…”

His mother’s voice filled the kitchen.

“If you are watching this, then I failed to protect you.”

Tears filled his eyes.

“But I need you to know something.”

She smiled sadly.

“You were never the reason I lost.”

A pause.

“You were the reason I fought.”

Victor stepped backward.

Because he knew.

It was over.

The recording continued.

“The person who betrayed me is Victor Voss.”

Silence.

The police officers looked at Victor.

Everything changed.

Victor’s face collapsed.

“No.”

Ronan looked at him.

“Yes.”

For fourteen years…

May you like

the truth waited.

And now it was finally heard.
