Chapter 4 — Home at Last

Weeks later, the mansion felt different.
The silence was peaceful instead of frightening.
Emma no longer flinched whenever footsteps echoed through the hallway.
One afternoon, Christopher found her sitting in the garden, carefully planting white roses beside a small stone engraved with her mother's name.
"Do you think Mom would like them?" Emma asked softly.
Christopher knelt beside her.
"She'd love them."
Emma reached for his hand.
"Will you stay?"
He squeezed her tiny fingers.
"Every single day."
The Pierce family transformed the mansion into a children's foundation in Emma's mother's honor, using part of the family fortune to protect abused and abandoned children.
As for Juliette, the recording became the key piece of evidence that led to her conviction for attempted murder, conspiracy, and fraud.
She lost everything she had tried to steal.
Emma, however, gained something far more valuable than an inheritance.
She finally had a family that chose to protect her instead of ignore her.
Sometimes the greatest fortune isn't measured in money.

It's measured by the people who refuse to let you face the darkness alone.
The End.
