CHAPTER 2 — The Woman Who Should Be Dead

CHAPTER 2 — The Woman Who Should Be Dead

Outside the restaurant, standing beneath the streetlights, was a woman Victoria had not seen in twenty years.

Her face was older.

Her hair had changed.

But her eyes...

Victoria knew those eyes.

"Clara?"

The woman slowly looked up.

Tears filled her eyes.

"Hello, Victoria."

Victoria stepped backward.

Impossible.

Her younger sister Clara had disappeared after a family scandal that destroyed the Rosewood name.

Their father told everyone Clara ran away.

Then years later, they were told she died.

But Clara was standing right in front of her.

Alive.

"You died," Victoria whispered.

Clara gave a painful smile.

"That's what he wanted everyone to believe."

Victoria's heart sank.

"Who?"

May you like

Clara looked toward the restaurant.

"The man who stole our family."
