CHAPTER 1 — The Girl With The Red Roses

CHAPTER 1 — The Girl With The Red Roses
Victoria Rosewood had spent twenty years building a life where the past could never reach her.
She was respected. Powerful. Untouchable.
Until a little girl carrying a basket of roses walked into her favorite restaurant and placed a flower beside her wine glass.
"Would you like a rose, ma'am?"
Victoria barely looked up.
Then the girl saw the ring.
The gold rose-shaped ring with the ruby in the center.
Her expression changed.
"Your ring looks just like my mom's."
Victoria smiled politely.
"No, sweetheart. This belongs to my family."
The girl tilted her head.
"Is there a name inside?"
Victoria froze.
Nobody knew about the engraving.
Nobody knew the name hidden inside.
The little girl whispered:
"Rosewood."
The world around Victoria disappeared.
That name belonged to a woman who vanished twenty years ago.
Her sister.
The sister everyone believed was dead.
Victoria grabbed the girl's small hand gently.
"Where is your mother?"
The girl looked toward the restaurant entrance.
"She's outside."
Victoria stood up.
But before she reached the door, the girl spoke again.
"She said you would ask that."
Victoria stopped.
"She knew I would?"
May you like
The girl nodded.
"She said you would remember the ring."
