Chapter 2 — The Man Nobody Expected

Chapter 2 — The Man Nobody Expected
The elderly man walked slowly toward the pool.
Nobody dared speak.
Even the guests who had laughed moments earlier lowered their eyes.
The man was called Richard Morgan.
A name that still carried power.
Founder of one of the largest investment companies in America.
And Claire’s grandfather.
Alexander forced a smile.
“Mr. Morgan… this is unexpected.”
Richard ignored him.
His eyes stayed on Claire.
The injured woman struggling in the pool.
His expression changed.
Not anger.
Something colder.
Disappointment.
He removed his coat and handed it to his assistant.
“Get her out.”
Two bodyguards immediately moved.
They pulled Claire from the water.
She collapsed onto the marble floor, coughing.
Richard knelt beside her.
“Claire…”
Her eyes opened.
“Grandfather…”
That single word shocked everyone.
Alexander froze.
The guests exchanged confused looks.
Grandfather?
Why was the billionaire’s granddaughter treated like this?
Richard looked at Alexander.
Then asked the question that silenced the entire mansion.
“Why was my granddaughter begging strangers for help in your pool?”
Nobody answered.
Alexander swallowed.
“She misunderstood the situation.”
Richard stared at him.
“No.”
His voice was calm.
“But you misunderstood something.”
May you like
He stepped closer.
“You thought her kindness made her weak.”
