Chapter 1 — The Woman in the Pool

Chapter 1 — The Woman in the Pool

The sound of laughter echoed across the marble courtyard of the Harrington Estate.

Crystal glasses clinked.

Luxury cars filled the driveway.

The most powerful people in the city had gathered for one reason—

to celebrate billionaire Alexander Harrington’s 60th birthday.

The mansion looked like a palace.

A massive infinity pool reflected the golden sunset.

Beautiful women wore designer gowns.

Business executives talked about money and power.

Everyone smiled.

Everyone except the woman struggling in the water.

“Please…”

Her voice was barely audible.

“Someone… help me…”

Claire Morgan grabbed the edge of the pool with shaking hands.

Her expensive white dress was soaked and torn.

A deep bruise covered her shoulder.

Her breathing became weaker with every second.

But nobody moved.

Instead…

they laughed.

A woman in a red dress looked at Claire and whispered:

“She’s really trying to make a scene.”

Another guest smiled.

“Maybe she fell in by herself.”

Claire looked toward Alexander Harrington.

The billionaire who once promised to protect her.

The man who knew exactly what happened.

But Alexander only lifted his champagne glass.

“Enough drama, Claire.”

His voice was cold.

“You always know how to embarrass yourself.”

Claire’s eyes filled with disbelief.

After everything she had done for him…

this was how he repaid her?

Then suddenly…

a deep engine sound interrupted the party.

Everyone turned.

A black luxury sedan slowly entered the mansion.

The laughter disappeared.

The car stopped beside the fountain.

The door opened.

An elderly man stepped out.

And the moment Alexander saw him…

his face lost all color.

May you like

Because the one person who could destroy everything he built…

had just arrived.
