Chapter 14 - THE DAUGHTER THEY ERASED

Thomas Bennett had another daughter.
Her name was Rebecca.
Ruth had never heard the name.
Daniel had never heard it either.
Rebecca had been born before Thomas married their mother.
Thomas was seventeen.
The baby was adopted.
Decades later, Thomas found her.
Rebecca wanted no money.
No inheritance.
She wanted family.
But Charles discovered her first.
Rebecca had undergone fertility treatment.
Frozen eggs existed.
Charles and Eleanor illegally obtained them.
Caroline arranged the transfer.
Sarah carried the embryos.
Emma and Lucy were genetically Rebecca’s daughters.
Daniel remained their biological father.
The revelation devastated everyone.
But it also explained Thomas’s obsession with protecting the girls.
He had lost Rebecca once.
He refused to lose her daughters.
Ruth looked at Caroline.
“What happened to Rebecca?”
Caroline looked away.
“Car accident.”
Marcus immediately asked,
“Real accident?”
Caroline didn’t answer.
That answer was enough.
Charles survived his gunshot wound.
Under interrogation, he finally confessed.
Rebecca had discovered the trust theft.
Charles forced her car off the road.
Then Daniel discovered the same theft.
Charles tried to kill him too.
Then Thomas discovered everything.
Charles poisoned him.
Three generations.
Three attempted cover-ups.
All for money.
But one problem remained.
Eleanor was missing.
And she had taken something from Charles’s house before disappearing.
Police found surveillance footage.
A suitcase.
A passport.
And Emma’s original birth records.
Marcus issued a nationwide alert.
Hours later, airport police found Eleanor at O’Hare.
She was preparing to board a flight to Switzerland.
Inside her suitcase were the missing records.
And a sealed letter.
May you like
It was addressed to Emma and Lucy.
Written by Rebecca before she died.
