Chapter 2 – The Child Who Wasn't Supposed to Exist
Daniel dismissed every servant except his elderly housekeeper, Margaret.
He wanted answers.
Immediately.
Emily explained everything.
Six years earlier, she had given birth to a baby boy in a small hospital outside Boston.
She had named him Noah.
Three days later...
The nurse told her the baby had stopped breathing.
She never saw his body.
She was handed a death certificate.
A sealed coffin.
And told not to open it because of "hospital policy."
She had believed them.
Until now.
Daniel sat in stunned silence.
Then he revealed his own secret.
Six years earlier, while returning from a charity event during a snowstorm, his driver had discovered an abandoned infant inside a damaged SUV on a deserted road.
Police searched for months.
No parents.
No missing child report that matched.
The infant wore only one bracelet.
The same one Ethan still had.
Daniel had adopted him legally after every investigation reached a dead end.
"I never stole anyone's child," Daniel said quietly.
Emily believed him.

But someone had stolen Noah.
And someone had erased every record that could have reunited them.
